THE INSPIRING JOURNEY OF LOVESICK MINISTRIES
Mary and Austin Solenberg founded Lovesick Ministries Inc. in 2009. Lovesick is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit ministry humbling serving the Lawton area. They are a non-denominational ministry formed from a grassroots initiative to serve an underprivileged demographic’s physical, spiritual, and emotional needs. Mary and Austin have a Jesus-centered vision and mission to be the tangible hands and feet of Jesus in their community. In 2010, Mary and Austin took up their crosses and let their actions speak louder than words as they began their ministry in a nearby local park. Olson Park was home to many displaced and homeless individuals. A small team of enthusiastic volunteers provided a free home-cooked meal, clothing, and faith-based fellowship to those in need. Lovesick remained faithful to their vision and calling at Olson Park despite enduring the harsh elements of the outdoors.
In 2013 Lovesick Ministries relocated indoors to a rough and dilapidated 10,000 sq. foot industrial warehouse. This warehouse space is located in the heart of old downtown Lawton. This rustic, raw, and industrial space became Lovesick Ministries’ permanent location. Areas of ministry began to grow as they incorporated a worship service with a Spirit-filled message of hope along with outreach services to the community.
Expanding Our Community Outreach & Services
In 2018, an extensive renovation was started with minimal financing and was completed in 2023. Jesus continues to move mountains as they serve and love their neighbors.
Lovesick flourished, grew, and expanded into new areas of outreach during the last ten years. The free and hot meals continued weekly while sharing the gospel’s good news with the broken, hurting, and lost. Sunday services include worship music and a Holy Spirit-led message followed by a time for prayer.
Our Vision
Lovesick is actively pursuing an expanding outreach for ‘at-risk’ youth in the Lawton area. A population of youth in our area is growing up in unfortunate situations out of their control. Often, they avoid their home life because of this.
Lovesick wants to create a safe place for them to be young, free, and in the presence of an Almighty God. It is going to be called the STOP SPOT. Stop Teen Oppressive Practices. Start Proactive Overcoming Tactics.
Our ministry’s desire is to see the youth in our community grow into adults capable of overcoming obstacles in all areas of their life. This vision is not currently being done yet, but we hope to see it come to pass some day. If you feel led to be a part of this, then please reach out to us.
We can spread the message of love & hope together.
If God has called you to join in our efforts to aid those within our community and grow our vision please donate today!
